>What Is The Difference Between SpaceTime And SpaceTime Calulator?
SpaceTime and SpaceTime Calculator are two different softwares that have very differening features. The simple explanation to the above question is that SpaceTime is more like a graphing calculator while SpaceTime Calculator is the more "regular" calculator. Looking at the price, SpaceTime is more expensive at 29.95 US$ while the SpaceTime Calculator is around a third of that at 9.95 US$.
Visually, they are very different as you can see in the screenshots above.
More Features Than Meets The Eye
The first thing that flashed into my mind was that SpaceTime Calculator looks really neat in comparision to Pocket PC calculator. You are not overwhelmed by the buttons as they are neatly arranged and some of them are under the 2nd button. The less chaotic feeling is definately a bonus and increses the speed inwhich I can enter calculations.
The buttons are all perfect in size for tapping using my fingers. My thumbs might be somewhat big, but all my other fingers can gently walze over the screen and enter calulations. The only hard thing to tap right is the location of the cursor in the formula bar, even when using a stylus. Most of the times, I get the cursor where I want it but sometimes it doesn't go there but jumps to another location. This is might be more dependent on which Pocket PC I have and the touchscreen's sensitivity.
[IMAGE=3440]The features in SpaceTime Calculator are the following (taken from SpaceTime Mobile's website):
- Trigonometric Functions (sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, atan)
- Scientific Functions (log, ln, abs)
- Memory system to store and recall up to 4 answers
- Change the angle mode to degrees, radians or grads
- Supports Complex Numbers
- Display the answer in decimal or fraction mode
The Documentation
SpaceTime Calculator appears simple and easy to use. Still, included is a tutorial that shows how to save and use stored numbers, a procedure which isn't that hard either. This feature is a bonus and helpful feature that makes SpaceTime Calculator suitable to install-and-run for everyone.
[IMAGE=3433]The tutorial is the same type as in SpaceTime, namely the "tap in the red box to continue"-box. Using this method, it forces you to do the procedure and learn yourself which is pedagogically quite good.
[IMAGE=3434]Using SpaceTime Calculator
The beauty of SpaceTime Calculator is that you can always see what you have entered and what the current result is. Here follows an example of the feature where I have calculated something wrong...
[IMAGE=3435]In this simple example, I entered the calculation a bit wrong and noticed that in the answer which is 45. What I wanted to calculate was (8*9)/(2+9), however, I entered it in a hurry and the calulator understood it as ((8*9)/2)+9. Luckily, this isn't the standard Pocket PC calculator -- where I would have to enter it all over -- but SpaceTime calculator where I can edit the calculation on the fly. So, I tap on the formula bar and enter the parenthesises before the 2 and after the 9 to get the following result:
The answer is about 6.55, which was exactly what I looked for!
If I would have used the standard Pocket PC calculator, then I would have to start entering the calculations all from the start. Can you imagine how frustrating that would be when you are already stressed from before?
