Camera shootout: Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 vs. HTC Touch Diamond2
rating - not rated yet | category - Mobile devices (PPC), Windows Mobile
Introduction
Although Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 is a pure "business" device primarily for work and such very "important" things, it is equipped with 5 megapixels digital camera with autofocus, an electronic stabilizer and LED flash. So well that originally intended comparision with its main competitor - HTC Touch Pro2 due to its very emabarring performance lose a bit of sense. Instead I prepared for you a comparision with perhaps the best phone in taking photos with Windows Mobile - HTC Touch Diamond2 with whom the fight will be fairer at all.
Part One
Camera parameters will be introduced in details in a review, I will give only results of the digital sensor, electronics control and applications in this article. Because both devices participating in this test both Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 and HTC Touch Diamond2 have preinstalled a very sophisticated control applications with a large number of options starting with ISO number adjustement and ends with colour and sharpness - testing photos are only taken in default setup. I only set the maximum quality of stored photos, everything else is unchanged compared to the first use of unpacked device from box.

As you can see, OmniaPro certainly has nothing to be ashamed of. Among the photos of the same scenes there are of course some differences, but it is certainly nothing major. Omnia as an example offers a little more colorfull photos, but you can easily catch up adjustment. Diamond2 again has a slightly larger focus (or smaller sensor) so at the same distance from the object offers a litle narrower width (less info); and if we can believe EXIF, the Omnia focal lenght equal to 4 milimeters, Diamond does not have it listed. Very interesting is definitely the fact that Omnia is in total less successful in compressing the result JPEG files. While Diamond2 has the majority of photos in the range of 1-1.5MB, the Omnia has about 2-2.5MB. But you do not tell the difference in result photos.
