We’ve been through another bout of heightened emotions, by which I don’t mean the 35th instalment in the 17th series of that popular soap opera, but the recent MIX10 event where Microsoft unveiled some more details about its new Windows Phone 7 Series platform. And it was not a happy moment for many a Windows Mobile enthusiast because pundits paid attention primarily to what the new system will not be capable of. Disappointed reactions have been pouring on Microsoft from everywhere. If I had a copyright on the phrase "I am finished with WM, switching to ***" and collected royalties for its use, I would have been filthy rich by now. But isn’t it all just a big, big misunderstanding?

When Microsoft officially introduced Windows Phone 7 Series about a month ago, detailed information about the new operating system was scarce. Instead, people were referred to the MIX10 congress to take place on March 15-17. Unlike the consumer-oriented Mobile World Congress, this event was intended for developers. What we learned?
