This is very good news! I just found out that there will be a new feature in WM5 allowing you to use your Pocket PC as a common USB Mass Storage device! Without any special application or driver, you'll be able to connect it to your desktop computer with Windows XP installed (possibly Windows 2000) and transfer files between them. And this is cool, don't you think?
EDIT :: Just to make it more accurate, the USB Mass Storage function is available in Windows CE 5.0 which is a core system for Windows Mobile 5. So it only depends on manufactrers whether they use it in ther ROMs for Pocket PCs or not...

Ok not a bad idea but.........
I mainly use active sync to swap files about for transport between work and home. Will this mass storage function bypass active sync? I don't mind keeping stuff upto date by active sync but sometimes it woulkd be nice to just plug in and have the removable drive option, without sync and to move files without the need to convert to a mobile format. The mass storage function is more or less a manual sync is it not?
Still the function would be usefull and the idea is sound enough......we shall have to wait and see..........

REALLY! COOL!
I thought that LifeDrive is the only PDA that can do it "before". Also, do you mind if I share the information with other people?

This is superb news! Activesync will still be on the cards, with 4.0 being released, but the function of USB Mass Storage is great to hear. Especially if you add memory cards to your PDA. You could potentially have 6GB worth of data! And that's with current memory cards - who knows how far we'll advance by the time WM5 is released!

Have no idea how will Microsoft solve that But this feature is mainly for computers WITHOUT installed ActiveSync (so that they don't have the Pocket PC Device USB driver). Anyway, we will see if and how it will be implemented by Microsoft and OEMs...
